Alicia Keister: Music

written about a large crab apple tree that grows in parents' yard. in the spring it blooms beautiful pink flowers. it has always been there, through the rain, wind, snow. . . i hope it always will. this is an analogy for God's love.

there's a tree that grows in my daddy's yard
it's been standing strong as long as time can tell
and now that i am grown
that old tree still stands alone
it reminds me of a strength i've come to know

well i don't know where i'm going to
and right now i don't even like the view
but i know that i've been found
and my feet are on the ground

the mighty wind cannot destroy that tree of mine
or the hail that seems to fall so hard
though the seasons change
the tree still stays the same
it's roots run deep beneath the cold hard ground

many years have passed since i laid eyes upon that tree
but i'm sure that it is taller still today
as the years go by

it has come to mean so much to my life
