Alicia Keister: Music
Distant Light
(James Brumbaugh and Alicia Keister)
This was one of the first songs that Jim gave to me to arrange, but it was about a year or two until I actually arranged it, or had even listend to the orginal recording. He said he liked my arrangment, but it was very different than the way he had imagined it. When I went back and listened to the recording I realized, yeah, it was A LOT different. But it sounds very ethereal. Jason added a very cool guitar part and put an effect on the vocals which makes the song sound like I always imagined it would.
Storm clouds rollin' through the window of my soul
Darkness falling on my eye
Child-like innocence slips silently away
Till one day I realize
I'm another prisoner
In this dark and wearly world
Waiting for the light to guide my way
I'm another passing time
As I watch the days roll by
Till tomorrow is just one more yesterday
Lord You have opened my eyes
And I have seen Your light
You have overcome the darkness You've restored my sight and now
I can see the road before me, because Your light shines through
And I know the road I'm traveling is the road that leads to You
You're my Rock, You're my Redeemer, You are the savior of my soul, You are the end and the beginning
You are the Peace that makes me whole
You're the Hope the lights tomorrow
And guided all my yesterdays
In Your hands I place my life
And in Your name I sing my praise
So when the darkness fills my soul
And I cannot see Your light
When the ink on this page dries and there are no more words to write
I will look inside my soul for the candle I recieved
On the night my eyes were opened on the night I first believed
